Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue

Located in Caliente, California, Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue is home to nearly 400 wild horses.  Jill Starr, the founder of Lifesavers, has made it her life’s mission to help these beautiful animals. The horses live in a gorgeous California paradise, munching on green hay and with miles of beautiful tree-lined countryside to roam free and wild. In addition, Lifesavers also makes room for other rescued horses that are not suitable for adoption, and these horses are safe and content all their lives.  Lifesavers needs to feed over 400 horses every single day so that these beautiful animals can live carefree and happy lives.

Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary

Located near Hot Springs, South Dakota, Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary is one of the greatest private wilderness areas in the United States.  Over 500 wild horses roam free across the sanctuary’s 11,000 acres of windswept prairieland.  The sanctuary’s director, Susan Watt, has devoted her life to these beautiful horses and to carrying on the mission of the sanctuary’s founder, Dayton O. Hyde. The sanctuary also periodically takes in horses in need of good homes. In addition, a combination of drought and grasshoppers has depleted the grazing areas for the horses this year, making it necessary to feed these beautiful horses costly hay on a daily basis.

Engler Canyon Ranch

Located in Colorado, Engler Canyon Ranch is a wild horse sanctuary sweeping over 22,000 acres of beautiful land. High-risk wild mustangs are set free once again and join the growing herd at Engler. These horses form new families and bonds with each other, as Engler takes a respectful hands-off approach, allowing the mustangs and burros to run free in a protected sanctuary. The dedicated employees of Engler Canyon Ranch work tirelessly to create a beautiful, natural habitat for these lucky horses.

Engler is currently working to finish fencing to allow the mustangs access to the entire 30,000 acre sanctuary. Your donations help provide funds for expansion of the sanctuary and much-needed hay to feed the herds.

Other Rescues

The Nimchuk Equine Foundation will also periodically raise funds for other rescues in order to help them.  Here are just two of many other wonderful horse rescues:
